About Me

Andrea Clarke MBE began work as a qualified physiotherapist for the NHS in 1994 and specialised in paediatrics in 1996. She worked up to a senior level in the NHS and in 2001 became a private practitioner and worked as a consultant for the national charity, Whizz-Kidz. In 2004 she also became the lead physiotherapist for the PACE centre in Aylesbury (a charity for children with physical disabilities) and worked there as a Consultant Physiotherapist until February 2009.She returned to the NHS in February 2009 leading a new service Transitioning Teenagers with Physical Disabilities to Adult Services in Middlesex, in 2014 she was awarded Patient Champion for the London area in NHS Awards for this work, and she was part of the judging panel in 2015 for this award.

Andrea founded the work of Playskill from 2005 onwards and with a team of volunteers established the Playskill pilot project in 2006, Playskill became a charity in 2008. Playskill has grown from running 1 group a week to 6 groups with 48 children per week. In 2015 Andrea won the High Sheriff of Hertfordshire’s award for services to the Community, she has been Director of that charity till October 2023, the charity has 29 part time staff and over 40 volunteers. In November 2018 she received an MBE for services to children and young people.

She continues to work as a Private Practitioner in the Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire and North London areas.

Andrea specialises in children and young people with a variety of conditions from 0-19 years and specialises in developmental delay, cerebral palsy and transition of young adults. She has recently been assisting her NHS team again with some cover, and is now a member of the APCP ( Association of Paediatric Chartered Physiotherapists ) PIPPS ( Physiotherapists Independent & Private Practice) Committee https://apcp.csp.org.uk/content/ppips-committee
